Five ways to skip IELTS
- Medium-of-Instruction (MOI) letter. If your bachelor's was taught in English, ask your university for an MOI letter on official letterhead. Accepted by most UK, Australian and Canadian schools and by DAAD.
- Duolingo English Test. Under $60 and taken from home. Accepted by 5,000+ universities including many US private schools that also offer tuition scholarships.
- PTE Academic. Widely accepted across UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Faster results than IELTS.
- Study in a non-English country in that country's language. German-taught masters at German public universities and French-taught programs at French publics generally need a language certificate for that language, not English.
- Interview-based assessments. A handful of programs (some Erasmus Mundus consortia, some MBAs) will assess your English via video interview instead of a test score.
